Susquehanna Valley small business owners encourage people to shop local
Small businesses in the Susquehanna Valley are hoping you’ll spend some of your holiday money with them, too. Shops in Lititz, Lancaster County, went into Black Friday sales, with even more planned for Small Business Saturday.”Today I have a special sale where if you spend that much money, you get free gift cards for Matthew 25,” said Connie Shertzer, general manager at Matthew 25 Thrift. Buy it. Buying small also means giving back. Shertzer said the proceeds support local charities. “We have a lot of really cool stuff today. And then tomorrow, for Small Business Saturday, we’re going to have a little sale. Plus, the first 50 kids to come get Chocolate Trader Joe’s Advent Calendar,” Shertzer said. It’s all part of the push to get shoppers in the door.” We want everyone to support Lititz stores and we want to keep them here because there are a lot of places in the United States that are losing their small towns,” said Shertzer.Terri Givens, who owns The Main Street Peddler, said it brings her so much joy to see people come out and support the little ones.
